Team Sats

From the spinning room to the Tour de France

Team SATS was one of Chris MacDonald's first projects. A project that challenged the established cycling world, and which was initially met with indulgent smiles. The goal was to create the world's strongest professional women's cycling team, and none of the riders had ridden a racing bike before.

A project which started out as Team GRACE and which turned into Team SATS. After just one year on the bike, they threw themselves into their first international World Cup race. They managed it beyond all expectations. So good that the girls were invited to take part in the biggest and most prestigious stage races, the Giro d'Italia, the Tour de France and the Tour de L'Aude.

Several stage victories and the nomination as "Team of the Year" in the Tour de France established that Team SATS was among the strongest girls' teams in the world. The goal had been reached.

Thanks to the sponsors

A project of this nature could not be done without the support and help of sponsors. SATS immediately saw the potential in the new team and decided to support the girls and become the team's main sponsor. Right from the start, SATS was an invaluable support for the team. Management as well as members have followed the girls on the way to the top - both in adversity and when the girls stood on the victory stools. Chris MacDonald is grateful for the support and it was invaluable.

Several other sponsors and partners supported the team along the way, e.g. ALD Automotives, Colnago, Parentini, Maxim, BasWare, Ferrosan, Look, Multi-Tabs, Pinarello, Giordana, Michelin, Synkron, Inforce, SimplyCooking, Geyser, Speedo, DMT, Mavic, ViperVision and many more.

A colossal effort

In addition to the solid support from the sponsors, countless hours of volunteer work were invested in running the team, both from Chris MacDonald's side and from a number of other people. Without the colossal effort and hard volunteer work, the team simply could not exist. A big thank you to all the volunteers who put a lot of effort into bringing the team to the top of international women's cycling.

It was therefore with mixed feelings that Chris MacDonald saw himself forced to close Denmark's first and only professional girls' cycling team, Team SATS.
